» higb7 - My Bantam is setting her eggs in January

I have a bantan hen that has been flying out the coop fow weeks. I found her setting on a nest of eggs. I live in SC ad have mild winters. Its now 72 deg outside today. But it will turn cold again and might even get down to 30 deg before any chicks hatch. Is it to cold for a hen to hatch eggs at this time of year. Her nest is on the grass under some tin.

Well, I'm no expert on this sort of thing so don't rely solely on me for advice! It seems unlikely to me that your hen will be successful - the eggs may hatch if she's able to keep them warm but if the temperature drops below freezing it's probably going to be too cold for her, let alone the eggs. If chicks hatch, you'll have to step in to keep them warm. Also, is she safe from predators where she is? I'd suggest making sure there's ample food and water close to the nest if you want to leave her where she is - but do consult someone who knows a lot more about this sort of thing.
